This past weekend, clients Tessa and Jason were married on Plum Island Point in Newbury, Massachusetts in an outdoor beach ceremony, followed by a Gatsby-inspired reception at the Plum Island Hall. Their color palette involved lots of white, with touches of black, gold, and blush. Eventi's goal was to bring to life the vision they had of a simple, yet elegant wedding with a vintage feel. The Wedding Party Bridesmaids wore mismatched knee-length blush dresses, while the groomsmen wore tan suits and blush ties, suspenders, and socks. Bridal party makeup by Lauren Ashely Event Stylist. Capturing every moment of Tessa and Jason's day was photographer Danielle of Dee Renee Photography. The Ceremony The wedding party began the procession on the boardwalk, past the pergola, and down onto the beach at Plum Island Point where guests waited amid acoustic music provided by guitarist Peter Tentindo of Phoenix Productions. An Elvis fan, the bride walked down the aisle to Can't Help Falling in Love. The couple opted for an "unplugged" ceremony officiated by Rena Dandurant of Eventi Planning where guests were invited to be fully present for the vows by putting away cameras and phones. The Reception Reception music provided by DJ Koz of Cuzin Richard Entertainment The reception was held at the Plum Island Hall in Newbury, Massachusetts. The vaulted ceilings, white beams, and large, high windows let in abundant natural light. The Details Eventi worked with the couple to choose the special details that would give the wedding a subtle vintage feel with a nod to Gatsby without being cliched or over the top. We started with keeping the color palette simple with lots of white and touches of gold, black, and blush. From there, we added black and gold handmade signs with Art Deco designs and lettering. The whiskey-loving couple chose a humorous Mark Twain quote to use for bar signage as well as an antique-framed quote from The Great Gatsby as additional decor. Note: Rose, the bartender for the wedding was a dream to work with; professional, pleasant, helpful and enthusiastic, she arrived early, was organized, and got along great with all the other vendors. Custom canvas guest book (below) purchased from Etsy. For the seating chart, the couple chose antique-style keys and tags. Custom sign and calligraphy by Eventi. The favors were the creation of the best man (the groom's brother) who made custom labels and added glittered feathers to favor boxes containing white chocolate and extra dark chocolate Lindt truffles. Flower and feather Eiffel tower centerpieces alternated with low centerpieces in glass vases consisting of primarily peonies and ranunculus in white and blush. The wedding party's bouquets and boutonnieres consisted of similar flowers in a complementary color palette. The ladies at Ambrosia Gardens, Portsmouth, NH, who were responsible for taking Pinterest examples and making them a reality, surpassed expectation and were so enthusiastic and creative. The Cake The 3-tier Art Deco-inspired cake by Eat Cake! in Newburyport, Ma featured a custom gold cake topper and cake stand and two flavor choices:
The Food The Wooden Spoon Catering Company created a delicious custom menu for the couple with beef, chicken, pasta, and vegetarian options. They even ensured a milk-free meal for a guest with dietary restrictions. Appetizers included: spinach and bacon dip with pita chips, vegetable crudite, and passed hot hors d'oeuvres including:
Entrees included Butternut Squash and Spinach Lasagna with a Garlic Cream Sauce, Chicken & Broccoli Penne with Basil Cream Sauce, and Sliced Roast Beef Au Jus. Sides included mashed potatoes, butternut squash with cinnamon butter, and Caesar salad. **Eventi's note: although all of the food was delicious and, having tried many of the Wooden Spoon's dishes, the Butternut Squash and Spinach Lasagna and Roast Beef Au Jus remain my favorites!! Krisztina Perron, owner of the Wooden Spoon Catering Company was able to accommodate a special "Milk and Cookies" toast for the kids in attendance.
